What are the applications of honeycomb ceramics?

Honeycomb ceramic is widely used in fields such as automotive exhaust treatment, flue gas purification, heat storage, infrared radiation combustion plates, powder metallurgy sintering plates, chemical reaction carriers and catalysts, and insulation materials for kilns due to their large specific surface area, good thermal insulation, light weight, low coefficient of thermal expansion, high temperature resistance, and acid and alkali resistance. Honeycomb ceramics are a new type of ceramic product with a structure resembling a honeycomb shape that has been developed in the past thirty years. From its earliest use in small car exhaust purification to its widespread application in industries such as chemical, power, metallurgy, petroleum, electronics, machinery, etc. today, it is becoming increasingly widespread and has considerable development prospects.

The main applications of honeycomb ceramics:

Filter material: Honeycomb ceramics have been widely used in the filtration of molten metals, separation and filtration of oils, purification and treatment of water, as well as the separation of organic solvents, acid-base solutions, coke oven gas, methane and other gases. At present, the filtration of molten metal has been expanded to include investment casting, steel casting industry, and industrial casting. When filtering gas, using ceramic filters for solidification has storage and economic characteristics.

Catalyst converter: With the rapid development of the national economy and the growth of automobile usage, the environmental pollution caused by exhaust gas is becoming increasingly serious. Honeycomb ceramics have catalytic functions due to their large specific surface area. After coating with specific catalysts, selective catalysis of exhaust gas can be achieved, greatly improving the reaction rate and conversion rate of the fluid passing through its pore channels.

Thermal insulation materials: Due to the high porosity and low thermal conductivity of honeycomb ceramics, they can be widely used as insulation materials. The use of honeycomb ceramics as a building material can provide excellent thermal insulation for residential buildings, and this material has been widely used in most newly built residential and office buildings in China.

Honeycomb Ceramic Regenerator: Honeycomb ceramic heat storage body has significant advantages such as high temperature resistance, good thermal shock stability, corrosion resistance, high strength, good thermal conductivity, and large heat storage capacity, greatly improving energy-saving effect and service life.

The demand for honeycomb ceramic carriers is increasing, and the market size is expected to significantly increase. Manufacturers are increasingly placing emphasis on technological research and development of honeycomb ceramics, in order to better meet the needs of consumers.
